Thathani Primary School was built in 1960. Various principals have led the school in its greatness and glory of educating South Africa future leaders. Thathani has enjoyed both great time and moments as well as low ones



Mrs.IN.Mbhekeni has led the school in the 1980's and the school established its high levels and standards through her leadership, winning competitions in music, athletics, soccer and netball.

The Girl Guide movement within the school was one of the school passions and great mechanism of grooming young and future leaders. Thathani originally was formerly a lower primary but changed in the early 1990's to become a high primary starting from Grade 1 to Grade 7. She, Mrs. Mbhekeni retired in 1994. The school is eternally grateful to her and for her great wisdom and leadership that have been entrenched in to the values of the school. Siyabonga Mam!



Mr.Z.E. Zwane took over in July 1997. The school managed to get a sponsor during this time from “ Adopt-A-School” which built a science Lab, a library and Administration block.MR. Zwane then retired in March of 2011.

Mrs I.N.Madiba took reign of leading the school in August of 2011. The School is promising to reclaim its  glory and is growing from strength to strength. The upgrades of the school environment and renovations of classes have been recently done. The school has won one of the best competitions for schools with a reward of R 25 000.00 to mentioned a few from “CAN DO” competition. Mrs. Madiba and her staff have re committed themselves to quality education and are optimistic of the future of the school and its success of the learners at the school.
