Our heritage

Eighty years ago, the Langa Methodist Church of Southern Africa, was planted at the heart of a developing community of Langa township in Cape Town. It was a great step of faith and vision. Today we still appreciate the achievements of the people who built it.

As presently configured, our physical facilities are constantly challenged to meet our current needs as it was originally built for a much smaller congregation - we’ve doubled in size in the past few years, and sometimes we are bursting at the seams!

In attempting to meet the needs of our burgeoning faith family, our facilities have been stretched to their limits and beyond resulting in an adverse effect on our ability to serve our members effectively and will become an ever increasing problem in the future.

Building a Church focused on deepened spirituality and social upliftment in our quest for making discipleship communities

Enhancing our faith community

In 2013, we identified the need to embark on a church expansion project to ensure that our church is well equipped to support and enhance our various ministries. The building element of our wider vision will have flexible spaces for different kinds of use; modern facilities; a welcoming environment not only to worship but to enhance a close interaction and relationship with the whole church community.

Project scope

We have come to realize that a church is more than brick and mortar hence we are engaged on a legacy project for our church.

The ultimate goal of this endeavour is to have:

  • A church that is welcoming and accessible to all, with facilities that everyone can comfortably use;

  • A sanctuary where all who want to worship with us are able to do so;

  • A base from which we as Christians can reach out into our community and spread the good news of Jesus;

  • A home that caters for the needs of the children, the elderly and disabled, and fosters inter-generational interaction; and

  • A place where all who come to us for baptisms, weddings and funerals have the facilities and surroundings they need to mark such times memorable, dignified and peaceful

This project is going to cost millions of Rands and we need all the help we can get from our fellow Christians, friends and acquaintances. So please “STAND UP AND BE COUNTED” in this legacy project by making either a financial donation using the bank details provided below, pledging your professional services or by donating some of the building material needed to realise this initiative!
