GRADE 6 EXCURSION TO THE TWO OCEANS AQUARIUM
The Grade 6 learners went on an excursion to the Two Oceans Aquarium on Friday 16th May.
The bus trip there was filled with enthusiasm and excitement as the learners chatted away and shared their expectations for the day, and of the Aquarium.

Once we arrived at the Waterfront, the learners spent time tucking into their picnic/packed lunches -for some learners this was their first time at the Waterfront and they thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the view and experience.

We then went on into the Aquarium to have a lesson on Sharks.
Learners were taught the following about sharks:
-
How they are similar to fish
-
How they are adapted to their environment
-
The importance of them in the ecosystem
-
If they are dangerous or endangered

Learners were then given the opportunity to touch a small shark that was in a plastic bowl on their tables. They had to wash their hands in sea water first. They were all thrilled to have the opportunity to say that they had touched a live shark – regardless of the size.

We then proceeded to do a self guided tour through the Aquarium, where learners learnt many valuable facts and saw creatures they were fascinated by.

The then discovered the Clown Fish tank or rather, “Nemo tank” had photo opportunities…

After a fun-filled, eventful day, the learners were worn out, tired and ready to return to school.

All in all, a good day was had by everyone. A big thank you to the Grade 6 educators and those who accompanied them during the course of this excursion.

Our Grade 6 theme for this term is: “In Grade 6 ….. you fit right in!”
